WHO IS GINO GREEN
Gino Green, the rapper with the midwest swag, down south hustle, east coast mouth piece, and west coast muscle was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri which was at one point and time named the “Murder Capital” and continues to be listed on the most dangerous cities list. He got interested in music by assisting his younger brother J-Kwon with his dream/career. He felt like it was in his blood after being around his brother and being a part of his success. Gino gained a major boost of confidence after Nelly and Jermaine Dupri (J.D. from SoSo Def) told him he was good and had skills.
Gino was incarcerated at the peak of J-Kwon’s career. The day before the “Tipsy” video shoot he was locked up on 4 gun charges and a possession of a controlled substance charge. He ended up spending the next 2 yrs watching his brother’s stardom blossom on tv from within the walls of the prison. While in prison and shortly after his release, he continued writing but his content changed to his environment, feelings, and other elements that surrounded him at that time and it wasn’t what the public wanted to hear at the time so he went back to the drawing board to find the music that would catch the attention of the public. Gino eventually put his career in the backseat and began to persue his groups, Sho-Off Click, project with J-Kwon.

Over the last few years, Gino decided it was time to get back to working on his own career. He’s performed everywhere from arenas to prison auditoriums, songs such as J-Kwon’s “Hood Hop”, “Tipsy”, & the newest single, “Louie Bounce (I Smack Nikki)”, SOC’s (Sho-Off Click) “Girls On My Joc” and “Scoop It Up”, and his latest solo release “Gangsta Walkn”.
Gino believes that his ability to “foresee” sets him apart from other artists. He sees the whole picture vs. just what’s right in front of him, just as he was able to see the future in his younger brother’s career. He admits that he has absolutely no patience and that’s been holding him back. He’s been waiting for a long time to finally get out into the spotlight and now he’s finally got his chance. Gino’s lack of patience stems from others not understanding his vision.
His career goals are simply to be “successful”. He is just going to continue being the best that he can be and trying to better himself everyday. Being the best is an automatic answer blurt out when asked what their objective is but Gino says he wants to get his point across like Tupac used to. “Tupac started with what was hot at the time and had a revolutionary style that eventually took people’s minds where he wanted them to go” and Gino plans to do the same. His new project, “Green House Effect”, will be released in the 1st quarter of 2010.
